From Say Anything… to Almost Famous, the films of Cameron Crowe tend to make regular appearances on plenty of filmmakers Five Star Films list. Yet when it comes to the journalist turned writer/director and his favourite movie of all time, his choice is something much like his work: modern, hopeful, character driven and packed full of memorable dialogue. Ahead of his latest release Aloha, Crowe sat down with Graffiti With Punctuation to share his Five Star Film…
“Of course it always changes! Right now I'd have to say The Royal Tenenbaums. That's one that I keep going back to because it evokes such a feeling. It's like a drug, and you can only get it in one place, thanks to those wonderful actors and script by Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson... and of course Wes' direction. Talk about a music lover's dream! If only for the sequence of Gene Hackman freewheeling around New York, set to Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard... it's a masterpiece.”
Aloha is currently in cinemas.
