Too much of "BLADE RUNNER 2049" is not enough

“Blade Runner 2049” is almost upon us. We’re literally only weeks away from the sequel to one of the masterpieces of the science fiction genre. Before the likes of director Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival,” “Sicario,” “Prisoners”) you would have been right to assume that it would take a mad filmmaker to attempt to continue and expand the lore of the “Blade Runner” universe. Despite all impulses to the contrary, I can’t help but be lured toward the final pieces of promo material for the film. These final morsels of footage are showing off the textures of the world that Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins (“Fargo,” “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Skyfall”) have crafted. Watch at your own peril.

Official Synopsis: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Office K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Cast: Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Jared Leto and Dave Bautista

Directed by: Denis Villeneuve
